The Turn of France is a competition cyclist by stages created into 1903 being held in July. It is held on more than 3.000 km and is organized by the group of Amaury press. “The Turn” is most prestigious of the tests cyclists.
Also called the “Outer Loop”, the Tour de Francewas created in 1903 per Henri Desgrange, founder of “the Car” (ancestor of the sporting daily newspaper the Team), on an idea of the journalist Géo Lefèvre (1877-1961). The objective was to compete with the races Paris-Brest-Paris (sponsored by “the Small Newspaper”) and Bordeaux-Paris (sponsored by “the Bicycle”). The competition enters the two sporting titles “the Car” and “the Bicycle” reached in this year 1903 its paroxysm…
